Abstract

The use of essential oils as patient-focused and supportive adjuncts to medical care is increasing worldwide and the evidence-based argument for its integration is convincing.
This lecture will present an international overview of the different health care settings where aromatherapy is integrated – including defining what is meant by clinical aromatherapy, essential oils and identifying the main actors for integration. Perspectives and challenges for the future to ensure wider integration will also be addressed.
