Nutrition in cancer patients: Aiding your well-being
Abstract
Humankind is at a crossroads where cultural demands and advances in technology challenge human physiology and wellness. Human Beings have lost their cultural and instinctual connection to their bodies and it has resulted in a basic lack of knowledge in self-care, self awareness, and self-regulation. Autonomic Nervous System Dysregulation has been correlated to an increasingly wide ranging spectrum of disease including Heart Disease, Gastrointestinal Disease, Obesity, Diabetes, Stress, Anxiety, and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. Unfortunately, these important underlying causes are not addressed in standard healthcare models and physician and practitioner burnout is at an all time high.
In the United States, Osteopathic Physicians receive extensive training in the Autonomic Nervous System and emphasize the importance of care of the whole patient: Mind, Body, & Spirit. This presentation is based on Dr. Goddard’s 25 years of advanced study of complementary and integrative modalities, extensive experience teaching physicians and medical students in hospital, outpatient, and educational settings, and hands-on clinical experience with patients with complex illness refractory to standard care.
This presentation offers a science-backed and wholeness-based method that is efficient and practical and can be utilized in any setting and population. It will include case presentations of complex health problems related to Autonomic Nervous System Dysfunction, and clinical practice applications demonstrated by these cases, and Guided Mind-Body Integration Experiences. These are practical and profound methods of self-care that can be utilized in any healthcare setting to support and optimize the body’s own physiologic self-healing and self-regulation mechanisms.
