Frontiers in Public Health Official Journal of the 3rd WCTCIM

Frontiers in Public Health is the official scientific journal of the 3rd WCTCIM

We are pleased to announce that Frontiers in Public Health is the official scientific journal of the 3rd World Congress on Traditional, Complementary and Integrative Medicine (3rd WCTCIM). All approved abstracts—whether research studies, clinical case reports, or experience reports—will be published in a dedicated supplement of the journal, ensuring wide international visibility and scientific dissemination.

In addition, the journal is hosting a special Research Topic titled “Traditional, Complementary and Integrative Medicine – Advancing Knowledge for Sustainable Health Worldwide.” This thematic collection will feature full articles that explore the core themes of the congress, such as integrative health, global equity, sustainable systems, and evidence-based practices. Submissions are welcome from researchers, health professionals, and policy leaders.

Frontiers in Public Health is a high-impact, peer-reviewed, open-access journal committed to advancing public health knowledge. It publishes research that contributes to global health solutions, aligning with the Sustainable Development Goals.

About 3rd WCTCIM

The 3rd World Congress on Traditional, Complementary and Integrative Medicine, organized by Brazilian Academic Consortium for Integrative Health (CABSIN), International Society for Traditional, Complementary, and Integrative Medicine Research (ISCMR) and the European Society of Integrative Medicine (ESIM), after Berlin 2017 and Rome 2023, will take place in the beautiful city of Rio de Janeiro in 2025 with focus in Strengthening Global Public Health through Traditional, Complementary and Integrative Medicine: Knowledge Diversity, Well-Being Societies and Planetary Health.

It is the premier global event dedicated to advancing global health through Traditional, Complementary and Integrative Medicine (TCIM). This innovative event, for the first time in Latin America, will bring together experts, academics and health professionals from all regions of the world, to share research and innovative experiences in integrative health towards planetary health.

Integrative Health World Health Organization Definitions

Traditional Medicine

Sum total of the knowledge, skill and practices based on the theories, beliefs and experiences indigenous to different cultures, as well as scientific and professional expertise, used for the diagnosis, prevention and treatment of illnesses and to promote health and well-being.

Complementary Medicine

Used interchangeably for “traditional medicine” in some countries, refers to a broad set of health care knowledge, skills and practices that are not typically part of a country’s established traditional or conventional medicine, and may play a supportive role in conjunction with biomedical care.

Integrative Medicine

Integrative medicine is an interdisciplinary and evidence-based approach to health and well-being by using a combination of biomedical and traditional and/or complementary medical knowledge, skills, and practices. It provides holistic care spanning the care continuum and may involve various health care providers and institutions.

He chairs G-I-N Asia, leads Cochrane Complementary Medicine Korea, and serves on editorial boards of over 30 SCI journals. A prolific author with 600+ SCIE publications, he ranks among the top 2% of global scientists and is one of the most published researchers in CAM worldwide.
