New deadline for submission of scientific abstracts in the three categories of the 3rd WCTCIM is May 21, 2025.
The deadline for submission of scientific works to the 3rd World Congress on Traditional, Complementary, and Integrative Medicine (3rd WCTCIM) has been extended: researchers, healthcare professionals, students, and policymakers now have until May 21, 2025 to submit their abstracts. This is an extended opportunity to actively participate in the largest global event on TCIM, which will take place from October 15 to 18, 2025, in Rio de Janeiro.
Submissions must be made exclusively in English, the official language of the congress, and may be submitted in one of the three accepted categories: research, clinical case report, or experience report. Approved works will be part of the official program of the event, with the possibility of being presented in person and included in an indexed publication.
Thematic Axes of the World Congress on TCIM
Abstracts submitted to the 3rd WCTCIM should preferably align with the thematic axes of the congress, which will be discussed in large plenary sessions:
- (A) Diversity of the field of Traditional and Complementary Medicine;
- (B) Integration of TCIM into health systems across the six regions;
- (C) Evidence-informed contributions of TCIM to public health;
- (D) Lifecourse care with TCIM;
- (E) Education and training in TCIM;
- (F) Planetary health, One Health, and healthy societies.
These themes structure the program and reflect the event’s multidimensional approach, connecting traditional knowledge, scientific innovation, and sustainable policies across the six world regions.
Scientific Abstract Submission Categories
The submission categories include different types of contributions to the field of Traditional, Complementary, and Integrative Medicine (TCIM), allowing researchers, professionals, and institutions to share research findings, relevant clinical reports, or applied experiences in diverse contexts. All proposals must comply with the criteria defined in the official guidelines and will be evaluated by the Scientific Committee based on originality, thematic relevance, methodological rigor, and potential contribution to the advancement of TCIM at local and global levels. Submissions must follow the technical standards established on the official congress platform.

Scientific Research
This category includes quantitative, qualitative, or mixed-methods studies, including preclinical studies, clinical trials, systematic reviews, or methodological studies. Abstracts must be between 250 and 500 words, structured into introduction, methods, results, and conclusions. The thematic axis, authors, institutional affiliation, and keywords (3 to 5, according to DECS) must also be specified. The Scientific Committee will assess the author’s preference for poster or oral presentation.
Case Report
Case Reports must follow the international CARE Report Guideline. Abstracts should be up to 500 words and include information on symptoms, diagnoses, interventions, and outcomes, highlighting challenges faced and lessons learned.
Experience Report
This category highlights practices implemented in public or community health, as well as hospital and health promotion experiences around the world. Submissions must include a text of up to 1,000 words. The content should describe challenges faced, results achieved (if applicable), and recommendations or identified challenges. Approved submissions in this category must also submit a video (in English or with English subtitles if originally in another language), which will be included in the IdeiaSUS Platform, from the Oswaldo Cruz Foundation (Fiocruz), which compiles health experiences.
Pay Attention to the Requirements
Each primary author may submit a maximum of two abstracts.
At the time of submission, authors do not need to be registered for the congress, but the primary author must register for the work to be presented at the congress and published in the proceedings.
Additionally, the names of all co-authors must be included in the initial submission. Submissions must be made exclusively through the event’s official platform, available at https://wctcim.cabsin.org.br/new/submission, where all submission guidelines are listed. Works sent by email or outside the established format will be disqualified.
3rd WCTCIM: A Strategic Global Event for Innovation and Cooperation in TCIM
The 3rd World Congress on Traditional, Complementary and Integrative Medicine (3rd WCTCIM) will take place from October 15 to 18, 2025, at the Riocentro Convention Center in Rio de Janeiro. This historic edition, the first held in Latin America, will bring together participants from over 50 countries to discuss the major challenges and opportunities of TCIM on a global scale. The event will promote unprecedented exchanges between traditional knowledge and emerging technologies, such as the application of artificial intelligence in TCIM research, Indigenous health, and the discovery of new medicines derived from medicinal plants.
This historic edition, the first held in Latin America, will feature a multilingual and inclusive program addressing strategic topics such as scientific evidence for critical public health issues, planetary health, sustainability, and the integration of Traditional and Complementary Medicine into health systems. The congress will also be a strategic milestone as it will launch and discuss the WHO Traditional Medicine Strategy 2025–2034, with expected impact in over 170 countries committed to this global agenda.
Organized through a partnership between the Consórcio Acadêmico Brasileiro de Saúde Integrativa (CABSIN), the International Society for Traditional, Complementary and Integrative Medicine Research (ISCMR), and the European Society of Integrative Medicine (ESIM), the event will also be a strategic opportunity for the presentation of concrete proposals and the strengthening of global networks that will contribute to the future of planetary health amid the climate crisis.
