Abstract

Since 2018, the Brazilian Academic Consortium for Integrative Health (CABSIN), in partnership with the Latin American and Caribbean Center for Health Sciences Information of the Pan American Health Organization, a regional office of the World Health Organization (BIREME/PAHO/WHO), has encouraged the joint work of experienced researchers to prepare Evidence Gap Maps (EGMs) on Traditional, Complementary and Integrative Medicines according to the WHO Traditional Medicine Strategy (2014–2023) and the Brazilian National Policy on Integrative and Complementary Practices. The EGM for Homeopathy synthesizing systematic reviews (SR) evidence published from 1991 to 2021. Out of 51 SRs, 42 yielded uncertain results.
Many gaps in the evidence base can be identified from the EGM. However, some primary studies show positive or potentially positive results for conditions such as fibromyalgia,
otitis media, diarrhea, respiratory infections, post-menopausal syndrome, irritable bowel syndrome, and ADHD in children. Additionally, measures of well-being and quality of
life should be used as primary outcomes, aligning with the phenomenology of homeopathy. In this panel, we will present and analyze the content of this EGM edition, published in 2024 (https://doi.org/10.1055/s-0044-1791490).
